Read Neil Patel’s 6 facts about the future of online marketing…
Fact 1 – Marketing is going omnichannel
The average number of social shares per post has been going down over the past 4 years. So you want to make sure you have a presence on multiple social media platforms. That way if one social media platform changes and affects your leads from that source you have other funnels that are still bringing you leads and prospects.
You need to leverage trends in your decisions about content that you post on social media. Right now the social media posts that get the most organic traffic are videos. Neil recommended that you create videos and upload them to Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin to get more coverage. He also highlighted that the more traffic you get through multiple channels the lower your PPC costs are.
Fact 2 – User Metrics will be key to beating all platforms
It is not always a case that you need to increase your rankings to get more traffic. They key moving forwards it to make sure that you look regularly at your user metrics for your website. Look for those pages which are focused on your key keywords that have less than 5% click through rate. Focus on increasing the amount of click throughs you get on those pages and this will lead you to gain more conversions and sales
Fact 3 – You have to focus on branding
“Brands are the solution, not the problem” Eric Schmidt
As Coaches and Consultants you are your brand, so this isn’t something new to us..however moving forwards you will want to make sure that you focus on the rule of 7 when it comes to your brand building. 7 is the number of times that a prospect needs to come into contact with your brand before they are likely to take an action such as make a purchase. This means to build your brand you will want to make sure that your content is reaching your leads from multiple social media channels and platforms. Add your content to industry blogs and media publications to further enhance your credibility.
Fact 4 – Email will drive a lot of revenue
Far from considering email marketing to be dead, Neil stressed that email is the highest converting channel. He said that for his business email makes up only 19% of leads but results in 28% of qualified leads. If you are thinking about what leadmagnet to use to build your email list then Neil recommended using a quiz.
Fact 5 – Marketing is a team effort
“There is no “I” in team”
Moving forwards marketing needs to be actively pursued by all business areas not just the marketing department. If you are a solopreneur or operate with just a small team then this means that you will want to hire a marketing coach to help you keep on top of the latest trends in online marketing so you can consistently attract your ideal clients and continue to grow your revenues.
Fact 6 – Marketing is too expensive so data needs to drive decisions
The cost of marketing is increasing so it is essential to analyse your data before making decisions about your marketing. Moving forwards this data driven decision making is key to being successful with your lead generation and client attraction.
